‘Through pioneering research and accessible education, we will reduce the number of people developing and dying from heart diseases, while improving and extending the lives of those affected.’
Heart Research UK awards grants for research into the prevention, treatment and cure of heart diseases.
- Spark Grants are available to allow researchers to test new ideas or deliver proof-of-principle studies to de-risk larger investment.
- Novel and Emerging Technologies (NET) Grants are for research projects which focus on the development of new and innovative technologies to diagnose, treat and prevent heart disease and related conditions.
- Translational Research Project (TRP) Grants aim to bridge the gap between laboratory-based scientific research and patient care, to bring about patient benefit as soon as possible.
- PhD Studentships give exceptional students the opportunity to gain the knowledge, skills and expertise needed for a career as a research scientist.
We strongly support the meaningful involvement of people with lived experience of heart diseases in research to ensure that studies are relevant and impactful.
All applications are reviewed and scored by our Research Advisory Group (a subgroup of our Patient and Public Network) before final decisions are made by our Medical Review Panel. Please use plain English and avoid technical language when completing your applications.
Our Patient and Public Involvement Surgeries provide an opportunity to present your research proposal to our Patient and Public Network members before submission. You can gain feedback on your study design, refine your lay summary, and strengthen your application to ensure patients are central to your research.
